Have you ever said that to yourself?
Contrary to what you may think, anyone can learn to do ballroom dancing.  Many people considering dance lessons say they have two left feet.  This could not be further from the truth.  All you need to do is to put yourself in the hands of one of our competent instructors and soon you'll be moving confidently across the floor.   We don’t guarantee to turn you into Fred and Ginger, but we’ll give you a serviceable left-right pair of feet, with which to enjoy yourself for the rest of your life!

Private Dance Lessons

Private lessons are the best way to learn to dance.  They offer the advantage of personal attention to your individual needs; consequently you will make more rapid progress and have a more thorough understanding of what you are trying to do on the dance floor.   You and your teacher can zero in on issues of rhythm and timing, technique, leading and following -- whatever area requires attention.


Group Dance Lessons

While group dance instruction does not offer personal attention, it does give you the chance to mix and have fun with others, and to practice leading and following a variety of dance partners, which is invaluable experience.


The Staff

Members of our staff train with the Dance Director, John L. Pattillo, a ballroom dance champion and a Fellow of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, the most prestigious professional ballroom dance organization in the world.   Many of the staff receive certification with the Imperial Society. Towson Dance Studio does not have contracts or high pressure sales techniques. We pride ourselves in offering the highest quality dance instruction at affordable prices. That's it, no pressure!   And that’s the way we’ve been giving dance lessons in Baltimore and throughout Maryland, longer than any other studio.

SALSA LESSONS IN BALTIMORE

              Salsa is the hottest Latin dance to come along in years, and one of the easiest to pick up quickly.   A few years ago, everyone in the Baltimore clubs was dancing a Basic step that moved sideways, now they have mostly adopted a forward and backwards Basic (what some people call a Cuban Basic), and the sideways step is just another variation.   As the dance evolves, we keep up with the changes so you can feel confident that you will be doing what other dancers are showing at the clubs, while keeping the basic technique that makes you feel good as a dancer in any style, anywhere: good balance, good footwork, good body rhythm.

              GROUP SALSA LESSONS:

Our Salsa classes are offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.   Click here for details.   We play salsa during our Saturday night dances, along with all the other rhythms.

TANGO CLASSES IN BALTIMORE

              Towson Dance Studio was one of the first to teach Argentine Tango when it began its stupendous revival after the Broadway smash – “Tango Argentino.”   We have been teaching it in Baltimore for over twenty years now.   What a great dance!

              GROUP TANGO LESSONS:

Our classes are on Tuesdays – click here -- and we have a fun Milonga (Tango practice dance and party) on the third Friday of each month.   Feel free to dance any style of Argentine tango at these Milongas – salon style, close embrace, whatever.   There are many approaches to the Tango embrazo, and we do not feel that people should be dogmatic about this.   Just dance and enjoy yourselves!

SWING CLASSES IN BALTIMORE

              Swing is one of the staples that should be in every dancer’s repertoire.   It will never go away because it is such a perfect expression of a huge amount of American music!   It has so many styles (including one that only old-timers remember, the Baltimore Bop) …where to start???   We offer the main menu of Swing:  East coast and West coast, single time, triple time.

              GROUP SWING LESSONS:
